Emergency Medicine is an exciting clinical discipline. All students participate in rotations under the supervision of the full-time faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine. This rotation provides students with the opportunity to see, evaluate and treat a wide range of clinical conditions. These individuals are expected to care for patients of all ages, with the full spectrum of illnesses and injuries and in the setting of a busy, urban, emergency medicine practice. In addition to the bedside teaching and clinical experience, students participate in a structured program that includes interdisciplinary case conferences, formal lectures by the faculty and hands-on procedure laboratories for wound care, splinting and trauma procedures. The emergency medicine curriculum is augmented by an out-of-hospital observational experience with the paramedic services within the region.
